Self Centeredness causes much damage to the world. It is the root cause of all manner of violence, abuse and injustice.
Self centeredness causes one person the desire to rule over others. They believe that their thoughts or ways are the only correct ones.
This way of thinking doesn't allow them to entertain thoughts without accepting them.
They may become angry with anyone who disagrees with them.
They may act arrogant and condescending to those who view things differently.
Greed is another symptom.
